Tasted Snow, 1996 porcelain salad bowl and six porcelain salad plates
JOHN CHAMBERLAIN
Tasted Snow, 1996, Porcelain Salad Bowl and Serving (6) Plates
Tasted Snow, a porcelain oil pan serving bowl with six porcelain gear plates was created by JOHN CHAMBERLAIN and manufactured in Limoges for ARTES MAGNUS.
In keeping with this interest in found objects, particularly automotive parts, the artist used a gear and an oil-pan to make the molds for his plates and bowl. Fabricated in Limoges, these white porcelain pieces are each over-glazed with gold, platinum and copper on their rims recalling the timing marks that mechanics use.
This edition is limited to 100 and each piece is signed and numbered on the back.
This edition is also available for purchase through Sotheby's Fine Arts' "Editions Hot Off The Press" collection, where you can also find additional images of the editions featured. Please visit the Sotheby’s Website for more information.
