KOMAR & MELAMID
Lenin, 1992, a set of four ceramic candlesticks
A candle fits perfectly in the hole the artists made in the head of this statue of Lenin they brought with them from Russia.
KOMAR AND MELAMID have created an edition of white ceramic candlesticks entitled Lenin, in keeping with the irony, satire and social/historic commentary of their other works. The artists appropriated a statue of Lenin they brought with them from Russia and made a hole in his head the perfect size for a one-half inch standard candle.
The edition, published by ARTES MAGNUS, is limited to 100. Each of the four candlesticks is signed and numbered on the bottom.
